Sound Formation and Propagation

Sound Formation and Propagation

Objectives

• Observe that the sound is produced by the vibration of the matter,

• Observe that a medium is needed for sound to propagate

• Examines the relationship between the number of vibrations per unit time and the sound pitch produced,

• Examines the relationship between sound pitch and loudness.

Curriculum Allignments

• Cambridge Lower Secondary

7Ps.01 Describe the vibration of particles in a sound wave and explain why sound does not travel in a vacuum

9Ps.01 Draw and interpret waveforms, and recognise the link between loudness and amplitude, pitch and frequency.
