Surface Tension
The surface of a liquid acts as a thin membrane due to the intermolecular forces between its atoms, i.e., the surface tension. In this experiment, the student will first compare the surface tension of liquids of different densities. They will observe the change in surface tension with temperature. The student will be able to observe the change in surface tension using a stalagmometer. They will differentiate between cohesive/adhesive forces and discuss which one dominates each time.
