In this experiment, electron diffraction is being examined.

Matter behaves wave behavior as well at small scales. In order to understand this behavior, one needs to make use of quantum mechanics. In addition, one needs to use appropriate experimental tools to test this behavior.

In this experiment, an electron beam will be passed through graphite crystals and will be made impinge on a screen. The patterns that appear on the screen are analyzed within the framework of “Bragg’s Law”. Using Bragg’s Law and the patterns in the set up one can both observe that electrons undergo diffraction and one can measure various interplanar distances in graphite crystal.
