To understand the concepts of thermal expansion of solid materials
To investigate how heat affects the dimensions of different materials when heated through a temperature range,
To determine the coefficient of linear thermal expansion for aluminium, brass and copper materials.
Categories: Thermodynamics Laboratory
Thermal expansion is when a material is heated and expands through this change of temperature, without having any changes in the phase of the material. It is an outcome of the change in the average distance between the atoms in a solid object. You will be calculating the parameters and consequences of this changes with Linear Thermal Expansion experiment.
