Young's Experiment

Objectives

• Evaluate the wave nature of light.

• Find the relationship between the fringe width in the interference pattern and the distance of the source to the screen.

• Fnd the relationship between the fringe width and the distance between the slits.

• Observe the relationship between the fringe width in the interference pattern and the wavelength of the light.

• Calculate the wavelength of light using the interference pattern.

Description

The Young experiment is an experiment devised by physicist Thomas Young. It shows that light can be examine under the wave nature or characteristic and a particle nature or characteristic, and that these natures are inseparable. You will be observing a wave that splits into two waves that later combines into a single wave.
