Classification of Living Organisms

• Identify the observable structural features and characteristic behaviors of the organisms,

• Classify the living organisms, based on their common features and behaviors.

Living organisms are classified into groups depending on their structure and characteristics. The
classification of species allows the subdivision of living organisms into smaller and more
specialized groups. The taxonomic groups used when classifying organisms are Kingdom,
Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, and Species. The largest group is the kingdom. There are
prokaryotes (bacteria and archaea), protist, fungi, plant, and animal.
In this experiment, we are going to learn the structure and function of different organisms and
classify them based on their common features.
